About this hotel

One of the city’s most beloved grande dames, the Italian Renaissance–style Beverly Wilshire has stood at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive since 1928. Its famous lobby is poised but unpretentious, a swirl of activity surrounding the massive tiered chandelier at its center. Elvis Presley, Warren Beatty and Steve McQueen have all stayed here, and this is where Richard Gere romanced Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman” (you can borrow the DVD). Four Seasons has managed the property since 1992, which means the service is warm and flattering but never fulsome. The 395 rooms and suites are divided between the original Wilshire Wing—more traditional, with crystal chandeliers, crown moldings and acres of marble—and the slightly more contemporary Beverly Wing, with low, clean-lined furniture in 50 shades of gray. Downstairs, Wolfgang Puck’s CUT steakhouse attracts a hip, celeb-dotted crowd. The spa makes its facilities available to all guests, not just those who’ve booked a treatment, and there is also a bi-level fitness center and a terrific pool.
